The Beaver Storytelling Chair is a hand-carved solid oak throne featuring beavers in intricate detail across the backrest — originally commissioned for the Dyfi Osprey Project in Mid Wales, and one of the most nature-connected chairs we have ever made.
The Dyfi commission came from a desire to put a chair in the landscape that felt as though it belonged there — something that told the story of beavers returning to Welsh waterways, that children and families could sit in and feel part of that story. The result is a throne that works equally well in a visitor centre, a school, a wetland nature reserve or a woodland classroom.
Built from solid British oak — the same material used for all our wildlife range — and made to last outdoors year-round without special maintenance.

Your Version
We can adapt this design for your own conservation project, nature reserve, school or visitor centre — adding your organisation's name, a habitat scene, water plants, or any other wildlife alongside the beaver. We have made versions for wetland projects, river restoration schemes and environmental education programmes. Tell us about your project and we will design something that belongs to it.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT. Schools and organisations can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. If you need to register us as a supplier first, we will provide all details required.

Finish
This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
More about the two finishes
Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun and weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time and asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey. Either way, your oak is fine.
