The Personalised School Storytelling Chair is a hand-carved oak throne that feels as though it grew from the woodland itself — and can be made to carry your school's identity, your community's story, or a name that deserves to be remembered in wood.

The example shown is Nicky's Throne: twisting vines rise up both side posts, balanced with delicate carved flowers and leaves that tumble across the frame. The backrest curves softly, giving the chair a flowing silhouette that feels organic rather than built. Everything is sculpted by hand from solid Welsh oak — no CNC, no shortcuts — which means each chair has a presence and a warmth that machine-made furniture simply cannot replicate.

The solid hand-built joinery holds up to years of daily use in a forest classroom, a reading garden, or a school library corner.

Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks, though we can work to tighter timelines for special occasions. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order and pay on invoice — no upfront payment required. We're happy to provide our VAT number, bank details, and address if your school needs to register us as a supplier.

Finish

This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
