Each piece is made to order in our workshop in Mid Wales, and there are two characters to choose from. The Oak Banister is warm and golden, shaped by hand and full of twists, knots and natural curves — it feels like a branch growing along your wall. The Driftwood Banister is lighter in colour and tone, shaped from pale driftwood with a beachy, blonde look — perfect for coastal homes and lighter interiors.
We pick each length of timber for its shape and character first — the wiggle is the whole point — then work it by hand until it's silky smooth to hold but still unmistakably a branch. No two rails are ever the same. You can read the story of these rails on our blog: A Handrail Worth Holding.
Dimensions
Lengths from 1.2m to over 4m — choose the nearest size and tell us your exact measurement, and we'll shape a rail to fit your space to the centimetre. The diameter varies naturally along each rail, with every one shaped for a comfortable, secure grip. Fixed with the supplied brackets, it sits at the standard UK building-regulations handrail height of 900–1000mm above the stair pitch line.
