The Woodland Storytelling Chair is a hand-carved and hand-painted oak throne alive with British wildlife — owls, foxes, badgers, deer and squirrels woven into every surface, making it one of the most colourful and intricately detailed chairs we make.
Each animal is individually carved and then painted in the workshop, which means no two Woodland Thrones are ever quite the same. The result is a chair that children gravitate towards the moment they see it — before a story has even started, they are already finding creatures hidden in the carving and making up tales of their own.
Built from solid British oak with strong hand-built joinery throughout, and finished with three coats of Epifanes matt varnish for all-weather durability. Suitable for indoor use and outdoor school gardens alike — the Epifanes finish means the colour stays vivid through Welsh winters and years of playground life.
"It looks amazing. We are absolutely thrilled with the end result and really cannot thank you enough for helping to turn our vision into reality."

Your Version
The Woodland Chair is one of our most bespoke — every single one is different. We can replace any animal with one that is meaningful to your school or community: add a red kite for Wales, a badger for a school emblem, a barn owl to mark a habitat project, or any creature you have a story about. We can also add a name, a motto, or a date carved into the seat or back.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks, though we are flexible around deadlines — end of term, retirements, anniversaries. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. If your school or trust needs to register us as a supplier first, we will provide our VAT number, bank details and any other information your accounts payable system requires.

Hi Suzanne,
My woodland throne arrived safely and is now in place in my bedroom. It arrived in time for my boyfriend to see it before he had to return to London (that’s him in the photo).
The only slight disappointment was that on the phoned I'd said yes to having a hedgehog on it, but that obviously got missed from the order details. I’m still over the moon with my throne though and I think it looks gorgeous in my bedroom. As you can tell by the photos, I love wood! 😀
I want to thank you and all the team for making my dreams come true. I now have the most beautiful and peaceful space in my house, where I can relax and unwind at the end of the day.
Have a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Best wishes
Tina
