Shaped by the wild curves of the Welsh shoreline and the spirit of adventure, the Reclaimed Driftwood Arc Bed features a sweeping headboard cut from spalted beech driftwood — paired arcs that rise from the frame like a pair of great tusks, each piece uniquely marked by the dark feathering grain that only spalted beech carries.
Spalted beech is one of the most visually striking timbers we work with at the Free Range workshop. The dark dendritic lines left by natural fungal action trace their own map through pale grain — no two planks ever the same. The wide arc of the headboard is cut by hand, selecting for the sweeping curves that best mirror the organic shapes of the original driftwood. The frame and runners are built in sustainably sourced birch ply, solid and clean, letting the headboard take centre stage. Everything is finished in natural oil that feeds the grain and brings out the full warmth of the timber.

Your Version
Every bed we make is bespoke — your choice of size, and as much creative input as you'd like. Would you like different arc profiles? Carvings in the headboard — animals, constellations, initials, a line of poetry? A different frame timber? Tell us what you're imagining and we'll make it happen. Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks, and if you have a deadline in mind, just ask — we often rearrange the workshop schedule to meet one.
