One of the first beds we ever made — and one that’s never left the range, because it remains one of the most requested. A solid frame combining Welsh oak boards with driftwood from our local beaches, simple in form and distinctive in the way that only two very different materials can be when they’re put together well.
The oak provides structure and warmth: dense-grained boards for the headboard and footboard, chosen for their character rather than their uniformity. The driftwood provides something else entirely — sea-worn, bleached, organic in form. It’s gathered by hand from the shorelines near our workshop in West Wales, each piece selected for its strength and its particular quality as an object. Together the two materials create a bed that reads as both grounded and wild, depending on where you look. This design has been in our range since the beginning because it works, and because customers keep asking for it.
The frame is built using solid hand-built joinery throughout, with a natural oil finish that nourishes both the oak and the driftwood elements.
