Memorial Bench FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ordering a handmade memorial bench from Free Range Designs.

Can you personalise a memorial bench?

Yes — every bench we make is fully personalised. We can engrave names, dates, poems and messages, and carve motifs including wildlife, flowers, landscapes, symbols, portraits or anything else that’s meaningful to you. See examples of our work →

What wood do you use?

All our memorial benches are made from solid Welsh oak, chosen for its beauty, natural strength and suitability for year-round outdoor use.

How long does it take?

Our benches are individually handcrafted, so we ask for around 4–6 weeks from order to delivery. If you have a specific date in mind, please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate it.

Will the bench withstand the weather?

Yes. Our benches are built for outdoor life and will weather beautifully over time. An annual coat of outdoor wood oil helps keep them looking their best. Care instructions are included with every bench.

Do you deliver across the UK?

Yes, we deliver to all parts of the UK. Benches arrive securely packaged and ready to place.

Can I install a bench in a park, garden or public space?

Absolutely — many of our customers install benches in public or community spaces. We don’t offer installation ourselves, but we’re happy to advise on how to fix your bench securely in place.

Do you make benches for schools, teams or groups?

We do. We regularly create memorial and commemorative benches for schools, sports clubs, churches, charities and community groups — including designs featuring logos, mascots and group dedications.

How should I care for my bench?

A gentle wipe-down when needed and an annual coat of outdoor wood oil is all it takes. Full care instructions are included with every bench we make.
