The Bunny Reading Chair is a hand-carved solid oak storytelling throne with a carved bunny at the centre, surrounded by hand-painted flowers, musical notes and bright red hearts — a joyful, imaginative chair that feels lifted straight out of a storybook.
Originally made as Lauren's Chair, this design captures everything that makes a storytelling chair work for younger children — the carved bunny is immediately recognisable and beloved, the painted details give children things to find and point at, and the tall flowing back and rounded arms make the whole thing feel magical and safe at the same time. It is at its best in a nursery, a reception classroom, or a cosy library reading corner where small children gather for story time.
No two are ever quite the same — each one is painted individually, which means the colours and details have their own character.

Your Version
We can personalise the Bunny Chair with a child's name, a school name, a favourite animal alongside the bunny, or different colours to suit your setting. We can also swap the bunny for a different creature entirely if you have a particular animal in mind — we have made versions with hedgehogs, mice, squirrels and ducks for different nurseries and schools. Tell us what would make this chair belong to your space.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. If your school or trust needs to register us as a supplier first, we will provide all details needed.

Finish
This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
More about the two finishes
Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun and weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time and asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey. Either way, your oak is fine.
