Every one of our memorial benches begins with a person, not a product — their animals, their landscapes, their words, carved into solid Welsh oak by hand and placed somewhere that holds their memory permanently outdoors.
We have made memorial benches featuring gambolling goats and mountain scenery, family silhouettes against a coastal horizon, owls in ancient trees, rugby roses, horses, dogs, butterflies and birds. We have carved inscriptions, poems, dates, names — and hidden details that only the family knows are there. No two benches are the same. Each one starts with a conversation about a person, and ends as something that looks like no other bench in the world.
Our benches are made from solid Welsh oak in our Mid Wales workshop. They are built to live outdoors permanently in gardens, school grounds, churchyards, memorial parks and coastal paths — and to be sat in, every day, for decades.

Your Version
A memorial bench commission begins with a conversation — about who this person was, what they loved, and where the bench will live. We can work from photographs, poems, sketches, or simply your words. From there we design, refine together, and carve. Families often share that the process itself becomes part of the remembrance — a chance to gather the details that mattered.
Lead time is typically 4–5 weeks. Schools and community organisations can order via purchase order and pay on invoice. Get in touch to begin your design.
Finish
This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
More about the two finishes
Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun and weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time and asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey. Either way, your oak is fine.
