Crafting a Unique Bed for Our Client: The Story Behind the Creation

Hey everyone! We recently completed a special project at Free Range Designs that we’re really excited to share with you. A client came to us with a vision for a custom bed, and we had the pleasure of bringing that vision to life. Here's the story behind this unique piece.

The Inspiration

Our client wanted a bed that was not just a place to sleep, but a piece of art that tells a story. They loved the idea of incorporating natural elements and wildlife into the design. After some brainstorming and sketching, we decided on a scenic landscape theme, complete with a sunset, rolling hills, and wildlife carvings.

The Design Process

The headboard features a beautiful carved sun setting over rolling hills. We used various types of wood to create depth and contrast, highlighting the natural grain and textures. The antlers on top add a rustic touch, tying the whole theme together.

For the footboard, we included a hand-carved deer, adding a touch of wilderness. We wanted to ensure that every element of the bed was both functional and artistic.

Crafting the Bed

We started by selecting the best pieces of sustainably sourced timber. Each piece was carefully chosen for its unique grain and character. The posts and frame were made from sturdy, rustic logs, providing a solid foundation and a natural aesthetic.

The carving process was meticulous. Our artisans spent hours carving and detailing the landscape and wildlife elements. The result is a stunning, lifelike scene that captures the beauty of nature.

Final Touches

To add functionality, we included under-bed storage drawers. These drawers are perfect for keeping bedding and other essentials neatly tucked away. They are crafted with the same attention to detail, ensuring they blend seamlessly with the overall design.

The bed was finished with eco-friendly oils and stains, enhancing the natural beauty of the wood and providing protection for years to come.

The Finished Piece

The final product is a bed that truly stands out. It’s not just a piece of furniture, but a work of art that brings a bit of the outdoors inside. Our client was thrilled with the result, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
