Fairy Story Chair — Hand-Carved Oak

The Fairy Story Chair is a hand-carved solid oak fairy throne designed for younger children — smaller in scale than our full storytelling chairs, with the same quality of carving and the same sense that something magical is about to happen the moment a child sits down in it.

Its organic, rustic form feels grown rather than built — the kind of chair that looks as though it might have been found at the root of a very old tree, in a part of the wood where fairies are known to gather. It is the right size for a reading corner, a nursery, a forest school clearing, or a fairy garden, and it has the presence to hold a child's attention from the moment they see it.

Small enough to move between spaces but solid enough to last for years of daily use.

Your Version

We can personalise the Fairy Chair with a name carved into the seat, painted fairy details added to the backrest, or a specific fairy character incorporated into the design. We have made versions with toadstools, flowers, stars and moonlight scenes for different nurseries and gardens. Tell us what your fairy story is and we will carve it in.

Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. If your school or trust needs to register us as a supplier, we will provide all details needed.

Finish

This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
