The Love Chair is a pair of hand-built oak kissing chairs designed to face each other — arranged in the traditional ‘S’ curve of the tête-à-tête, or positioned for a more intimate face-to-face conversation, they create a private space for two people within the landscape of a garden.
The tête-à-tête design — two chairs curved so that the people sitting in them face one another, close but not crowded — is one of the oldest forms of intimate garden furniture. Our version is built from solid oak in our Mid Wales workshop, with the curved and jointed form coming from hand-cut solid timber rather than steam-bent veneers or manufactured board. They feel as solid as they look, and are designed to live outdoors year-round rather than be brought in at the first sign of winter.
Finished with Danish oil to bring out the natural warmth and grain of the wood. The oil finish gives the chairs a softer, more natural look than a varnished surface — it feeds the timber rather than coating it, and can be refreshed each season to keep the chairs looking their best.

Your Version
We can carve initials, a date, a phrase, hearts or other decorative details into the chairs — a popular choice for wedding gifts and anniversaries. We can also add carved flowers, leaves or knotwork to the backrests, adjust the height and proportions to suit a specific garden, or incorporate any other detail that makes these chairs belong to a particular occasion or place.
