Solid oak from the woods around our Snowdonia workshop, with a Welsh slate chessboard inlaid flush into the top — a game table built to last generations.
The slate squares are hand-cut and set one by one into the oak surface, with alternating polished and honed finishes creating the board's light and dark contrast. Both materials come from this landscape: the oak from managed Welsh woodland, the slate from the quarries that shaped this part of Wales for centuries. The result is a chess table with genuine provenance — not a piece of furniture pretending to be rustic, but something made from the land itself.
The table is sized for comfortable play — generous enough to hold the board and a drink on either side, sturdy enough for a long game without any wobble. Standard chess sets fit the board. Prices include VAT.
