Alice is chasing the White Rabbit through giant mushrooms and swirling clocks, and the Cheshire Cat watches from above — hand-carved and stained into solid British hardwood in a scene that fills the full headboard of this extraordinary bed, made to order in the Free Range workshop in Wales.
The carving is done entirely by hand, and the natural pigment staining that brings each character to life is applied by the same craftsman who carved them — which means the colours follow the relief of the wood rather than sitting on top of it. The result is a headboard that genuinely reads as a scene from a storybook, the depth of the carving giving the illustration a three-dimensional quality that no printed image can match. The frame is built from sustainably sourced British hardwood, solid and hand-jointed throughout.

Your Version
The Alice scene is one we return to more than once — each version slightly different, different characters foregrounded, different palettes in the staining. We can also replace the story entirely: any tale with strong visual characters can become a headboard. Four-poster frames available on request. Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks from confirmation.
