available
A hand-carved dining chair with angel's wings in the backrest — made in pale ash for indoor use, or solid oak if you want it to weather the outdoors as well as the kitchen.
This chair starts with the backrest and works outward from there. The wings are carved in full relief — light catches the curves differently at different times of day, and the shape changes as you move around it. The seat and legs have their own considered form: not plain uprights but a gentle shaping that gives the whole chair a lightness despite the solidity of the timber. It sits at a dining table without overwhelming it; it also holds its own as a standalone piece of furniture in a room that didn't expect something like this.
For a version that can live outside, or in a setting with more exposure, we can build in solid oak instead. Either way: solid hand-built joinery throughout, made to last, and finished by hand.

Your Version
The wing design can be adapted — more elaborate, simpler, or combined with other carved motifs. A heart, a name, or a Celtic knotwork border in the backrest alongside the wings is entirely possible. The chair can be made as a single statement piece or as a pair. Oak, ash, or another timber of your choice. Tell us what you're imagining.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT.

Finish
This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid timber slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
More about the two finishes
Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun and weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time and asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey. Either way, your timber is fine.
