This sign was hand-carved in solid oak for the Osprey Centre — a richly detailed scene featuring an osprey in flight, reeds and bulrushes, ducks gliding on water, a birdwatcher with binoculars, rolling mountains, dragonflies, a ladybird, and a beetle, all framed within a beautifully routed oak border. "Cuddfan" is the Welsh word for a hidden or secret place — a fitting name for a wildlife hide where nature reveals itself quietly to those who wait.
Every detail was carved by hand in our studio in Wales, from the swooping curve of the osprey's wings to the delicate texture of the reeds. We use solid oak for its warmth, durability, and the way it takes a carve — the grain becomes part of the design.
