The top is solid oak, broad and chunky, with a band of reclaimed Welsh slate running straight down the centre — cool to the touch and heat-resistant, perfect for setting dishes directly on the surface. The heart carving on the legs adds the smallest flourish of personality to what is otherwise a table built entirely around substance.
This is a table for the kind of kitchen or dining room where things are built to last rather than updated every few years. It seats eight with room to spare, weighs what solid oak weighs, and will look better in twenty years than it does today. The joinery is traditional mortise and tenon with wooden dowels; no metal fixings, no shortcuts. The wood is finished with eco-friendly organic Danish oil; the slate is left natural and simply cleaned with a wipe.
