A children’s memorial bench in solid oak, carved and hand-painted with everything that mattered to them — favourite characters, animals, colours, and the words that defined them.
The bench pictured was made for Inaaya Azhar. Stitch from Lilo & Stitch features on one leg, holding a purple bowling ball; a monkey hangs from the armrest; a princess cat, a unicorn and an owl run along the backboard. A wheelchair is carved in too — because Inaaya used one, and because leaving it out would have made the bench less true. Her name, her dates, and the Lilo & Stitch quote her family chose are all carved into the timber:
“Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”
We work closely with each family through the design process — sharing drawings, making amendments, getting every character right. These benches take time because they earn their place. Built from solid oak with hand-painted details in weatherproof artist pigments for lasting colour outdoors. Prices include VAT.

Your Version
Tell us about your child — the characters they loved, the things they did, the words that feel right. We’ll work with you through design drawings before anything is carved. Schools can order on a purchase order. Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks; complex commissions with extensive artwork may take a little longer. Get in touch to start the conversation.
Finish
This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
More about the two finishes
Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun and weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time and asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey. Either way, your oak is fine.
