A bed commissioned around one of Britain’s most beloved landmarks — the Glastonbury Tor, hand-carved across the headboard with its winding path climbing to the summit and the sun rising behind it.
This piece began with an email from Lorna, who wrote that she’d “finally re-found” our website “after days of searching.” She wanted the Tor on the headboard — the iconic silhouette and the path she knew from visiting — with the sunrise motif across the grain of the wood. On the footboard she asked for a full moon and a moon-gazing hare racing upward toward it. Both are hand-carved in relief. Paul, who made the bed, had his own connection to the place: he visited Glastonbury often as a child, and knew the path up the Tor from memory. The bed reflects both the customer’s love for the site and the maker’s.
When it arrived, Lorna wrote: “It’s absolutely stunning, just stunning! It’s my absolute dream bed.”
The bed is built from sustainably sourced solid hardwood, finished with a natural oil that deepens the grain and lets the carved details read clearly.
