A memorial bench should look like the person it remembers. This one began as a drawing of a summer border — daisies, roses, a lily, a peony — and we carved every bloom by hand into a solid oak back rest, then painted them so the colour lifts off the grain from right across a field or garden.
We build these benches in our Mid Wales workshop from solid oak, with the shaped legs and arms left with their natural waney character so no two are ever the same. The name, dates or a few words of your own are hand-carved into the front brace, where they sit clearly without crowding the design. Jointed and pegged in the traditional way and finished for life outdoors, it will sit happily under trees on a school field, in a churchyard, or at the bottom of a garden.
Every bench we make this way is drawn up with you first. Send us a photograph, a child's drawing, a favourite flower or a sketch on the back of an envelope, and we will turn it into a design to approve before a single cut is made. Around 10 weeks from order, with free delivery in mainland UK.
