The Medieval Knight Throne is a hand-carved solid oak chair built around a prominent knight crest and Celtic knotwork — a throne that takes its aesthetic seriously, designed for schools with a history programme, themed events, or anyone who wants a chair that commands a space by right of what it looks like.
The knight crest sits at the centre of the backrest — the kind of heraldic detail that makes a room feel like a great hall rather than a classroom. The Celtic knotwork fills the frame, running across the uprights and rails in the continuous interlace pattern that bridges medieval Welsh and Norse design traditions. It is a chair that works equally well for history lessons and for story time, because history is stories, and this chair knows it.
Carved by hand in our Mid Wales workshop from solid oak, and finished with three coats of Epifanes matt varnish for indoor and outdoor durability. The solid hand-built joinery means this chair is as robust as it looks — built for regular use in schools, libraries and outdoor spaces.

Your Version
We can replace the knight crest with your school’s coat of arms, a specific heraldic animal, a motto, or a date. We can also carve a particular historical scene, add runic or medieval script, or adapt the design to suit a specific period of history. Schools have ordered versions for Tudor projects, Norman conquest topics, and Year 6 history productions. Tell us your project and we will design from there.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. If your school or trust needs to register us as a supplier first, we will provide all details needed: VAT number, bank details, address and anything else required.
