The portrait is carved from a photograph — the grain of the oak becoming part of the likeness, the wood giving the image a depth and permanence a photo frame can’t match. The bench pictured features a car alongside the portrait, because the person remembered was someone whose connection to a particular vehicle was part of who they were. That kind of specificity — the make, the model, the affection — is exactly what a memorial bench can carry that no other tribute manages.

Two birds on the armrests mark the bench as a place of remembrance. Built from solid oak and finished with three coats of Epifanes matt varnish for all-weather outdoor resilience. Your version is worked out from scratch — portrait, personal details, symbols, inscription. Prices include VAT.

Finish

This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
