Our Moonlit Hare Bed is a bespoke single bed hand-built and hand-carved in our workshop, where a wild hare sits in quiet wonder beneath a full moon and a sky scattered with stars. Carved into a solid timber headboard, the hare gazes up over rolling moorland — a calm, enchanting scene that brings a little of the wild indoors. It began as a commission for a customer in the far north of Scotland who loved our original Hare in the Woodland design but wanted the trees swapped for open moor and a starlit sky to suit her treeless coastal landscape.
We build each bed from solid, sustainably sourced timber, with characterful posts that keep the natural shape, grain and gentle knots of the wood. The headboard scene is carved and shaded entirely by hand, the moon glowing pale against an inky, star-pricked sky. Every bed is fully dismantle-able, so the headboard, posts and rails all come apart for straightforward delivery and assembly — all you need is a socket set and a second pair of hands.
Because this is a bespoke piece, we can carve it as a hare, or design a companion bed with a seal, stag, dolphin or another animal of your choosing beneath the same moon — perfect for a matching pair of single beds, with the animals facing one another.
