Bold, striking, and made to last — this hand-carved sign was cut from three solid boards of Douglas fir, each 300mm wide, giving a final size of approximately 900mm tall by 600mm wide. Carved and painted in vivid yellow and black, it carries both the English message No Farmers No Food and its Welsh equivalent, Heb Amaeth Heb Faeth, with a beautifully detailed tractor taking centre stage.
This particular sign was made as a favour for the farmers we rent our land from — a replacement for a tatty old PVC sign that had been battered by the wind. We wanted them to have something that would last, something that would make people stop and look twice. We think it does exactly that.
The letters and tractor are hand-carved into the wood, painted black against the warm yellow background — a finish that stands up to the elements and looks better with every passing year. Built from solid Douglas fir, it will weather beautifully at a farm entrance, field gate, or country property.
