The Carved Star Oak Chair was commissioned for the TV show Celebrity Desert Island — the seat where the series winner would sit in triumph, hand-built by the Free Range Designs workshop and carved with a central star to mark the moment of victory.
It was made to be part of the show’s visual identity: solid, handsome, unmistakably handmade. The carved star sits at the centre of the backrest, surrounded by the natural grain of solid sustainably sourced oak, oiled to bring out the warmth of the timber. The same qualities that made it right for television make it right for a garden — it is a chair that earns its place by looking as though it has always been there, and by carrying a story in its grain.
Hand-built in our Mid Wales workshop from solid sustainably sourced oak, with an oil finish to feed the timber and protect it through outdoor use. Made to a bespoke design and available to commission in the same or similar form — each version will carry its own grain and character.
