The Rabbit Storytelling Chair is a hand-carved solid oak throne with a characterful rabbit taking centre stage on the backrest — long ears, soft expression, the kind of creature that belongs in a story and knows it.
Inspired by the great tradition of rabbits in literature — from Peter Rabbit to the White Rabbit to Watership Down — this chair carries that spirit of quiet adventure into any classroom, library or reading garden. Children recognise it immediately and want to know the rabbit's name before they even sit down. Teachers tell us it starts more conversations than almost any other chair in the range.
Built to the same generous proportions as the rest of our wildlife range — a full-height throne that commands a room.

Your Version
We can carve a name, a school motto, or a dedication into the seat or back. The rabbit can be given painted details — spots, a jacket, a waistcoat pocket — or we can add flowers, leaves or other elements around it. We have made versions referencing specific books and characters. Tell us what your school's story is and we will work from there.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. If your school or trust needs to register us as a supplier first, we will provide all details needed: VAT number, bank details, address and anything else required.

Finish
This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
More about the two finishes
Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun and weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time and asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey. Either way, your oak is fine.
