A four-poster wave bed built from oak and driftwood — the headboard formed from varied-toned woods joined to create a flowing, wave-like effect, the four tall posts rising with their natural woodland form intact.
The headboard is the centrepiece: pieces of oak and complementary woods, varied in tone and grain, joined and shaped into a form that moves across the board like something organic — part wave, part woodland floor, part patterning that the trees themselves started and the maker continued. The posts are solid oak, selected for their upright strength and the quality of their natural form, retaining the character of the woodland rather than the smoothness of the mill. The driftwood elements add the coastal dimension: weathered, bleached, carrying the surface detail that only water and time produce. The overall form of this bed has been compared to the enchanted forest in A Midsummer Night’s Dream — full of movement and natural magic.
The frame is built using solid hand-built joinery throughout, with a natural oil finish that deepens the colour variation across the different wood species.
