Rooted in the same ancient woodland spirit that inspired Celtic and Viking craftsmen for centuries, the Rustic Yew Oak Bed pairs the weathered beauty of Welsh shoreline driftwood with the warm, swirling grain of solid yew — two of the most characterful timbers that grow and wash ashore in Wales.
The four posts are built from driftwood collected along the Welsh coastline — each one shaped by salt water, wind, and time before it ever reached the workshop in Snowdonia. Set against them, the carved yew headboard and tailboard bring deep warmth to the frame: yew's grain twists and ripples in a way that is entirely its own, the honey and amber tones shifting with the light. Every bed is hand-built with solid joinery throughout and finished in natural oil to protect and enhance the grain for decades to come.
If you're drawn to the wild, ancient character of these two timbers — the bleached, sea-worn driftwood and the deep, living warmth of yew — this is a bed that will only become more beautiful with age. We're also happy to talk through a fully bespoke version: different carvings, additional timbers, or a different size or profile. Just get in touch and we'll take it from there.

Your Version
The combination of driftwood and yew is just the beginning. We can carve the headboard with almost anything — Celtic knotwork, Viking runes, animals, woodland scenes, names, dates, a favourite symbol. The frame can be adapted in size or proportion, and if you'd like a different primary timber, just ask. Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks, and we're flexible if you have a deadline to meet.
Made to order in our Snowdonia workshop. Prices include VAT. Schools and educational establishments are welcome to order on account by purchase order.
