A set of shelves in spalted beech and Welsh slate — the beech providing the uprights and the slate the shelves, so the whole thing has the weight and coolness of stone with the warmth of a live-edge timber frame. Spalted beech is beech that has begun to be coloured by fungi in the log, which leaves dark ink-lines running through pale wood; no two boards are alike, and no two of these shelves are either.
We make it in two configurations at the same price: a tall, narrow shelf for an alcove or beside a door, and a shorter, wider one for under a window or against a sofa. Both are made to order, so if neither quite fits your wall we can adjust the height, width or number of shelves.
