The Viking Throne for Epic Storytellers is a hand-carved solid oak throne built around a central Yggdrasil panel — the Norse Tree of Life — flanked by twin dragon totems and interwoven knotwork that runs the full height of the backrest. It is one of the most ambitious chairs we make, and one of the most striking.
The Tree of Life sits at the centre because it belongs there: roots below, branches above, the whole world held within it. The dragons face each other across the panel, carved in the round with scales and coiled tails. The knotwork fills every space between them. Sitting in this chair for story time is not a neutral act — it announces that what is about to happen matters.
Carved and finished by hand in our Mid Wales workshop from solid oak, with three coats of Epifanes matt varnish for all-weather outdoor use. Also available with a natural oil finish for indoor settings — get in touch if you prefer the indoor option.

Your Version
We can carve runes into the base rail — a name, a date, a phrase, or a school motto in Norse script. The knotwork animals can be changed: wolf, raven, bear, serpent — whatever mythology means most to you or your school. We can also add a school crest or incorporate specific symbols into the panel. We will sketch the design before any carving begins so you can see exactly what you are getting.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. If your school or trust needs to register us as a supplier, we will provide all details required.
