Giant Shrek Throne — Hand-Carved Oak

The Giant Shrek Throne is a hand-carved solid oak throne with Shrek himself carved into the backrest — a fairy-tale chair for the greatest of all modern fairy tales, built for schools, gardens, storytelling spaces and anyone who believes that donkeys can talk and swamps can be magical.

Shrek is one of the great story structures of our time — the reluctant hero, the journey, the dragon, the rescued princess who turns out to be exactly who she needs to be. All of that is in this chair. The carvings are cut by hand in our Mid Wales workshop from solid Welsh oak, and the chair is built with the kind of joinery that lasts decades in outdoor settings. It's big enough to be a genuine visual statement in any garden, library corner or school playground. And the children who sit in it will know, without being told, that something special is about to happen.

Your Version

The Shrek design is what we've made before — but your throne can carry any character, creature or story. If you want your own fairy tale carved into the backrest, we'd love to hear what it is. This is exactly the kind of brief our workshop gets excited about.

Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks, though we're flexible if you have a deadline. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order — we'll supply our VAT number, bank details and address for supplier registration.

Finish

This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
