The Rustic Oak Storytelling Throne is a hand-built solid oak throne with the raw, undecorated presence of something found in the landscape rather than manufactured in a workshop — a chair that earns its authority through the weight and character of the material alone.
Built from locally sourced reclaimed Welsh oak, this throne is for the school, garden or venue that wants something that feels genuinely old and genuine — not ornate, not decorated, just the natural grain, the solid joinery and the quiet authority of the wood. Because the material is reclaimed, each throne carries its own history in the timber: saw marks, knots, the evidence of a previous life before the workshop. Every one is different, and every one is better for it.
Built to live outdoors year-round — in school gardens, forest school clearings, heritage settings and outdoor classrooms.

Your Version
The Rustic Oak Throne is one of our most customer-driven designs — every version we have made has been different. The raw form is a starting point, not a fixed design. We can add carved inscriptions, school crests, names, dates or any other detail. We can adjust the dimensions: wider, taller, with or without armrests. If you have something specific in mind, get in touch with your brief and we will work from there.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT. Schools, heritage organisations and outdoor venues can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. We will provide all details for supplier registration: VAT number, bank details, address and anything else required.

Finish
This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
More about the two finishes
Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun and weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time and asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey. Either way, your oak is fine.
