The Rustic Storytelling Throne is a hand-carved solid British oak throne with a strong, straightforward presence — no painted animals, no mythology, just the weight and authority of the wood itself.
Where our decorated chairs tell a particular story, this throne leaves the story to you. Its simplicity is deliberate: the clean, strong lines of the backrest, the commanding proportions, the warmth of natural oak — everything about it says that whoever sits here has something worth saying. It is one of our most versatile chairs, equally at home in outdoor classrooms, library corners, reading gardens and stage settings, because its character comes from the material rather than from the carving on top of it.
The solid hand-built joinery means this chair will outlast the stories told from it by decades.

Your Version
The clean surface of the Rustic Throne is ideal for personalisation — a name carved into the seat rail, a school badge routed into the backrest, a motto, a date, or a phrase that belongs to the children who will use it. We can also add carved elements to the backrest: leaves and vines, knotwork, a specific animal, or anything else you have in mind. Tell us what the chair should say about your school, and we will design from there.
Typical lead time is 4–5 weeks. Prices include VAT. Schools can order by purchase order and pay on invoice. If your school or trust needs to register us as a supplier, we will provide all details: VAT number, bank details, address and anything else required.

Finish
This piece is supplied unvarnished as standard. Left natural, solid oak slowly weathers to a soft, silvery-grey — completely normal for outdoor timber, a graceful way for a piece to age, and with no maintenance needed. If you’d prefer to bring out the grain and warm, honeyed tones, choose the varnished option (+£50) and we’ll hand-apply three coats of Epifanes, a premium marine yacht varnish.
More about the two finishes
Outdoor furniture takes a real beating from sun and weather. Left natural, an unvarnished piece simply silvers over time and asks nothing of you. A varnished piece keeps its rich sheen for a couple of years; after that the varnish may begin to flake or patch, at which point you can simply re-coat it, or let it weather back to that natural silvery-grey. Either way, your oak is fine.
